Resting and Waiting with God

Wait Over Hurry Reading Plan and Journal

Welcome to my first 2019 Bible reading and study plan!

Have you ever felt as though life was going so fast that you didn’t have time to read, pray and study your Bible? Or perhaps it’s not the speed, but just the spirit of so many things to do has you spinning in circles?

Well, sister (or brother) I’ve been there. Even after a season quitting the corporate rat race to heal my body, soul and mind I still have the struggles. We wear so many hats it’s hard to keep them juggled and make time to do the important things in life.
Listen, I would like to say I’m so holy that I do a 1-hour or 2-hour Bible study every single day. But, that is a fantasy world for must of us, and it sure is for me.

Something I do every day is dive into one scripture. I study, meditate and pray on that one scripture and let it nourish my soul, following the Lectio Divina method of reading and prayer. I’m pretty sure in my life, it’s better for me to fully understand one scripture than to sit and read 20 pages in my Bible and not remember one thing I read. Can anyone say Amen?

INTRODUCING

Each month for a while, I plan to host a monthly Bible reading plan to help a community of Believers read God’s Word together and encourage each other. God has called me to be a Lifter Upper and lifting up His Good News is the ultimate way I can fulfill that calling.

ORDER YOUR JOURNAL

Each month, I will post a reading plan here on the web. I know I enjoy reading plans and journaling all in one book. So, I have created a simple 6×9 large print journal available on Amazon.

JULY 2019 BIBLE READING PLAN

I want to share with you a reading plan I created for myself. It’s called “Wait Over Hurry” and it’s all about the theme of waiting and resting with God.

Sometimes we have busy times where we just need to slow down. There are other times circumstances slow us down such as a sickness. In 2015 I embarked on a year of slowing down in order to heal.  Later, in 2018 my husband faced depression and together we went through a season of rest and waiting on God. During those seasons I relied on scriptures about healing, and about waiting and rest in God.

In our instant and do-it-quick society I am reminded that God does not operate on the same time-table. We have clocks. God has his God-Clock. By meditating and concentrating on His Word we learn more about Him and draw closer into his loving arms.

HOW TO TAKE PART

  1. Follow the daily Bible reading plan and read the daily passage. Share your insights and what you learn on Social Media
  2. Write in your journal the scripture you chose for the day, your 5 items of gratitude, along with a short prayer of confession. Then spend time with God in prayer.
  3. An optional activity will be to join my author Facebook group to see what others are learning and sharing. We will also pray for each other.
