You Stink-Take a Mind Bath

Reading a good book is just like giving your mind a good bath. Sometimes we do need a bath because our mind can get pretty stinky!

Having a magazine on my bedside that gleans me multiple treasures, ideas, reinforcement, training, knowledge, and value to my life is a dollar well spent.

My recent copy of Success Magazine is just that!  I’ve read it every night and it has turned down corners, sticky notes, highlighted text!

One of the articles this month is by Erin Case.  “Defining Success” according to Zig Ziglar. Value for your heart, mind, body and soul!

If you have ever listened to Zig Ziglar he tells about how folks may complain to him about the effect of motivational seminars, books and audios and how they don’t last.  His response would be, “Neither does bathing, that’s why we recommend it daily”.

Haven’t we all experienced being so pumped up and excited after an event or meeting.   We were filled with new found knowledge and a spirit of fire within us. And then as soon as we step out into the real world something happens. We lose the positive because negative comes slapping us in the face.

The only way to offset that negative is to wash it away by feeding positive reinforcement  back into our mind.  You have to wash away the bad!  Let me repeat you HAVE to wash away the bad.

One of my favorite scriptures is found in the Bible is Philippians 4:8

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Listening to and reading positive and motivational material repeatedly and regularly can wash away those negative thoughts that come in.  Zig says “You are what you are and where you are because of what’s gone into your mind.  You can change what you are, you can change where you are, by changing what goes into your mind.”

Some of my first network marketing training was 6 daily tasks and one of those tasks was  to read 30 minutes a day from a GOOD book that reinforces self development or industry training. I value that training!

I encourage you to block out 30 minutes a day (at least!) to read or listen to positive, motivational and inspiring messages. This one task alone will help you to stay committed to your goals and build up your belief in yourself to achieve them!

If you don’t know what to read, my eBookshelf has a list of suggested reading!

I appreciate the thoughts and the verse as well. One of my “favorite picks” from the Bible. I have returning to it more lately.

Good thoughts to thinking about and I enjoyed the read. Good, truthful, and positive thinking is such an important discipline to shoot for relative to our personal lives and businesses.

    Thanks for sharing!
