• No More Savings, The Elevation Group

I watched a piece on CNN a few days ago.  It was a piece that they did about how folks are being hit by the economic downturn.  One woman was a professional administrator.  She worked somewhere in the Madoff corporation.  Not really one of those folks way up in corner offices.  Just a “regular person”.  She had never married.  She just always professionally worked and she was now in her 50’s.   She had trusted in “the system” of work for a company, devote yourself to that company, and trust and think that they will take care of their faithful employees.  Now, she was having to live off any savings she…

  • Drink upstream from the herd

Image via Wikipedia Texas Wisdom Always drink upstream from the herd. Back when cattle was moved across country by cattle drives  the ultimate goal was to be able to make camp by  a stream.  All the livestock could drink, the cowboys wash up a bit, the cook could clean the pans he had been scrubbing with salt or sand.  Water was a good thing. But, remember those cattle were not housebroken.  So while they were drinking in the stream, if they felt the urge to “go”, they WENT.  Right in the water!  I know, NOT a pleasant thought! It’s not very hard to figure out.  If you wanted REALLY clean…

  • I watched a bird flapping against the wind today

Image by Pandiyan via Flickr It was a STRONG wind here in Texas. That little bird was flapping and flapping and absolutely NOT going anywhere. But he kept on flapping. I had to step away from the window for only a split second, and when I got back – he was GONE. That got me to thinking. Why DO birds fly against the wind? Why not GIVE UP? Perch on a limb? Go play in a puddle of water? Land? WHY keep flapping and flapping and flapping and not moving anywhere? I googled. I found lots of “scientific” websites about bird flight which were way over my head (no pun…

Here is the list: Teuscher Bodega Scharffen Berger Chocolate Maker Jacques Torres Chocolate Norman Love Confections Valrhona Godiva Chocolates Richard Donnelly Fine Chocolates Puccini Bomboni More to follow on the journey. I already get to tell you about two! Some of these are in Europe, so I need to figure out how to get them to me! I…
