When You Pray and Don’t Get An Answer
Have you ever prayed about something and it didn’t seem as though there was an answer from heaven? You prayed daily about it and it just didn’t seem as though God was listening.
We Pray. God Listens.
Let me assure you β God is listening.
Just as there are many reasons why we don’t see an immediate answer to our prayers there are also reasons that we don’t get the answer we hoped for in our prayers.
Sometimes when we don’t think anything is happening and the answer isn’t coming it’s because there is a spiritual battle raging in the supernatural realm. The forces of Light and Darkness are raging a war that’s invisible to our human eyes.
The Lion – Your Adversary
The Bible says in 1 Peter 5:8 βBe sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:β
Have you ever watched the nature channel and seen how a lion hunts? Here are some interesting facts about lions when they hunt…
1. They hunt by both stalking and ambush tactics.
2. They have small lungs and heart, so they won’t chase for long.
3. The most successful hunts happen at night
4. They don’t take into account wind direction, so they sometimes give themselves away
5. If they miss on the first strike, they seldom chase the prey
6. When they are stalking smaller prey, they slap the rear of the animal in order to knock it off balance
I read these facts and it gets me excited about how much spiritual wisdom is in one scripture! God didn’t inspire the writers to use just any creature as an example. He chose the lion so that we can better understand exactly who our adversary, Satan, really is like.
Satan is sneaky, lurking in the shadows. Hiding in the grass. The shadows and grass are the ‘spiritual realm’ that we can’t see. He’s out there. But we can rest assured that the our weapons are not earthly weapons. We have a spiritual arsenal and the angels in high places are fighting a battle for us (Ephesians 6:12)
Remember this β
The delay of God’s answer doesn’t specifically mean the answer is no. The delay could mean that the battle may still be raging.
Rest assured God answers prayer with either a Yes or a No – and No can sometimes mean “not right now.”
