Journal to Purpose
Quick Journal Idea #1
I love to journal!
As a teenager I wrote in a Diary. How many teen girls even still do that? All those wishes, secrets, tears and smiles all captured in a written document of the ages.
I suppose journal writing is the “new” diary.
One exercise I did a couple of years ago (and do about every 6 months) is a morning journal moment.
The key to this journal exercise is when you journal you have to do it first thing in the morning.
Yes, get up and journal first thing in the morning (within 15 minutes of waking up..before you have fully awakened)..
Write for 30 minutes continuously, and just let your thoughts go free! You are actually most “free” in your mind before you fully wake up.
The next key is don’t read ANY of the writing until 1 month has passed. You will really have some revelations!
Journal writing is an excellent way to get in touch with your thoughts and emotions during your empty nest years. The first transition into the empty nest you may feel lost, confused, and apprehensive. Capturing those thoughts (and others) in your journal can help you plan, prepare and map out your future days/months/years.
Happy writing!

I agree that writing a journal does help in improving your writing. I do it online now in my blog.

Hi Dominque! I agree about the blog being a way to improve writing. I find myself though recording some secrets of the heart on my paper journal that I wouldn’t dare put out in the bits and bytes of the cyber world, lol. Like, really, I don’t want the world to know where all my age spots are, hehehe!! Thanks for stopping by!

Hi Liz! Isn’t it a cool idea! I would have never thought about it had I not read about it first, but it really is an eye opener! At the end of the 30 days when I am re-reading my entries, I sometimes find myself saying “did I write THAT??!!” <>
