Thomas Edison tried to persuade Henry Ford to abandon his idea about a motor car because “they would never work”

Never let a pessimistic person talk you out of your dreams!

While others may be convinced that certain things cannot be done (even though they may not have been tried).

Even though you may be surrounded with negativity – remain positive – find success. Don’t let someone else’s negative thinking and words limit you.

Remember – Negativity is contagious – and you don’t want to catch it!!

I’ve learned some recent lessons during the past few weeks about the Power of Social Media as a source for Networking.   I’ll talk about those later.  But I wanted to give a shout out to one of my Facebook Friends, The Golden Rule Virtual Assistant. The website and services are there to make YOUR life easier while you are building your Direct Marketing Business.

One of the fun things I participated in during my Social Media Networking with The Golden Rule was entering a contest to name the mascot.

And I won!  The name of Blossom was chosen and I feel so blessed to help this fellow networker, leader, and business owner.  And it was FUN!!

I like to say “Don’t get stuck in a rut!”

The call to leadership can come from many directions. But I like the three examples that Laurie Beth Jones explains in her book “Jesus, CEO”. The are found in the Old Testament. We are called to leadership by either the burning heart, the burning bush, or the burning house.

“The burning heart is the kind of call that David had. He said “I’ll go fight the giant! It isn’t right that our people should tremble in their tents at his insults”. I’m personally convinced that David HAD to have some Texas gumption in him! He was the little guy inexperienced in battle. He didn’t even have the proper gear and armor to GO into battle. But he took what he had and went. And he conquered! God honored his Faith and Action!

“The burning bush is the kind of call that Moses had. It is a surprise approach to getting someone’s attention. As you recall, Moses was called to leadership by seeing a miraculous burning bush.” Moses wasn’t asking for leadership either. He was just going about his daily routine when a miracle popped in front of his eyes. BOOM. He was a leader.

“The burning house is the kind of call to leadership that Queen Esther had. Esther, concealing her identity as a Jew had become the honored and favorite wife of a king.” This was one of my favorite Bible stories as a young girl. She won a beauty contest and became the new queen. The favorite queen! “The king became tipsy one night and allowed a devious and conniving advisor to declare that all the Jews should be killed. Esther’s uncle heard of the plan and found her to tell her of the plan. He instructed her that SHE would have to be the one to come up with a plan to stop the atrocity. The end of the story – Esther became a legendary leader among the Jews. She became a leader when her house was burning down”.

I don’t need to know the science of why, although it is interesting. I only need to know that if “old fashioned” hand writing is a possible avenue to aiding the journey – then

My Vision Crafting and Goal Setting is moving to a journal!  And the quotes I’m jotting down from Richard Brooke’s ‘Mach II With Your Hair On Fire” will move to the journal as well!

But I thought to myself “that may work for others, but it would work for me”. I later realized that even THAT statement was ME Visualizing a NEGATIVE result already…

Hmm. It was a thought that truly made me ponder…

SO, I as so many great thoughts, I put it on the back burner to think about, but to do no action with.

And then a friend posted on a forum recently about a Visualization that she is working on – and as she shared a moment of her process with us it made me realize how much I have limited myself. I’ve limited myself with failing to reach for the stars. Limited my life by a belief system that kept me trapped.

My next step was to pick up a copy (actually, the FREE pdf on his website) of Richard Brooke’s ‘Mach II with your hair on fire’. And I’ve been reading through it starting my own “Journey to Visualizing a Greater Tomorrow”.

I suppose this is one of the many reasons that folks say when you get into Network Marketing / MLM be prepared to change. In order to truly succeed you WILL have to work on yourself (Self Development) along with working on your business (Business Development).

I don’t think some folks realize how the two are so interwoven and connected !

And so, my personal journey begins!

I read a story a long time ago about Sledding up in Alaska. It related that the sled dog routes have ruts in them and once a sled gets going in that direction it just isn’t an easy process to “jump the rut”. It takes some work of hauling the sled out of it.

We got to experience some ruts recently here in Texas during a big ice storm some are calling the Texas Ice Bowl (since it occurred during the week before the Super Bowl). Some of us that had to get out and drive in it had ruts in the roads. There was frozen ice on either side of the tires and when we needed to change lanes, it was a little treacherous as the car slipped and wavered. When we were back in the next rut, it was smooth sailing. Well, smooth is stretching it…it WAS an ice storm!

Sometimes we get into a rut in life and even in our business building.

A rut may be compared to a comfort zone. Too afraid to change.
I read an article recently by Gary Lockwood over at bizsuccess.com

An excerpt reads “Each of us has our own personal comfort zone. Some would call it ‘a rut’. Staying in our comfort zone can be very limiting. The world passes us by as we stagnate. If we are not learning, trying new things and growing, our jobs and businesses may be deteriorating. Make personal and professional growth a lifelong habit.”

I hope you are inspired such as I to step out of the comfort zone.
I even stepped out and decided to start doing some video blogging so this should be an interesting and fun “Rut Buster!”
